FORUM 13

While the in between time after a job interview and before a job offer can feel like it's out of your hands, there are steps you take. For the forum this week, what was a strategy covered in the lecture that you think you can use when trying to land a job. Or, for those of you with experience interviewing and landing jobs, what advice would you give to someone in that in between phase?

Your initial post should be a paragraph or more in length. Then, comment on at least two (2) of your classmates’ posts to receive full credit for this forum.

PORTFOLIO DRAFT

The Portfolio Draft assignment allows you to receive feedback before the final submission of your Digital Portfolios.

Before any major written or creative assignment, turning in a draft of your work allows you to receive feedback from your Instructor and your peers. The Portfolio Draft assignment gives you the opportunity to organize your idea and receive feedback in advance of the final deadline for your Digital Portfolios.

Begin by watching the assignment explainer video in D2L. Overall, this assignment has three (3) components: 1) Content, 2) Organization, and 3) Aesthetic Appeal. For Content, you need to at minimum include links for your Resume, Contact Email, and Social Media (if applicable). You should also add other materials that demonstrate your skills and expertise. For Organization, you need to order your content in a coherent, attractive way that makes sense to the viewer. In general, the Resume should be the first thing in the list and the contact button should be the last thing. For Aesthetic Appeal, you should attempt to give your Portfolio a sense of attractiveness and artistic symmetry to the best of your ability. Again, you should begin by watching the explainer video in D2L that will cover each of these components more in depth. To submit, paste the link to your Digital Portfolio in D2L.

This assignment will be submitted in Desire2Learn (D2L) in a format similar to the weekly Discussion Forums.

NOTE: Comments are NOT required for this assignment, as the Resume Feedback assignment will give you the opportunity to give and receive feedback on your drafts.
